The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, established by Decree No. 33 on July 25, 1979, opened its doors to students on November 15, 1979, on a temporary site in the historic town of Ilaro, Ogun State. Initially located at the Anglican Grammar School compound, the institution moved to its permanent site along the Ilaro/Oja-Odan Road in 1983, occupying 898.116 hectares of land. This prime location, approximately 60 kilometers from Idiroko—a border town with the Benin Republic—ensures easy access via various road networks and a local railway station.
