OUR STORY

The Federal Polytechnic, Offa was established in 1992, following a presidential announcement made at the Palace of His Royal Highness, the Olofa of Offa, late Oba Mustapha Olawoore Olanipekun Ariwajoye II, by then Military President, Ibrahim Babangida during a state visit in 1991.

To lay the groundwork for the Polytechnic, His Royal Highness, the Olofa, constituted a Local Task Force under the chairmanship of Alhaji Tiamiyu Olatinwo, with six other prominent indigenes of Offa and Chief Ayotunde Raji serving as Secretary.

Engr. (Mrs.) Taiwo Adeife Osemeikhian, the pioneer Rector, led the institution from February 1992 to 2000, under the guidance of a Federal Task Force headed by the Director of Science and Technology at the Federal Ministry of Education. This Task Force was instrumental in making key policy decisions and performing the functions of the Governing Council. Dr. Razaq Bello succeeded her as Rector from 2000 to 2006, followed by Dr. Mufutau Olatinwo, who took over as Acting Rector in 2006 and became the third substantive Rector in 2008.

The Polytechnic’s first Governing Council was established in 2000, with subsequent councils inaugurated in 2005, 2009, and the current council, chaired by Chief Okey Ezenwa, inaugurated in April 2013.
