HISTORY

The Federal Polytechnic, Ugep, Cross River State, is one of the six newly established Polys by the Federal Government of Nigeria. Our mandate is to produce graduates (National Diploma/ Higher National Diploma) that can compete favorably in the world job market with respect to Technology, Science and Management. The school is strategically located within the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, with a dense population and extensive fertile land. We have currently acquired 200 hectares of land for the permanent site and an additional 65 hectares for our Agricultural projects.

Ugep where the school is located is easily assessable from three state capitals: Calabar (Cross River State), Uyo (Akwa Ibom State ) and Abakaliki (Ebonyi State). Being a new school, there is need for substantial infrastructural development in terms of Administrative complex, laboratories/workshops, student hostels, Medical facilities, Library/ICT complex, faculty buildings, staff offices, staff quarters etc. While, the Federal Government is willing and ready to finance these projects, we would appreciate Local, National and International collaborations for effective take-off. Our focus is Renewable Energy and Agricultural Technology.

To train middle cadre manpower that will facilitate the industrial development in Cross River State and the country at large by putting together a team of enlightened and committed staff that will motivate students to “think outside the box”.
