History of RONIK POLYTECHNIC, EJIGBO

Ronik Polytechnic is an offshoot of the Ronik International Institute of Secretarial, Computer, and Management Studies, Ejigbo, Lagos. The Institute was established in the year 1991 to cater for people who desire highly rewarding careers in Secretarial, Computer, and Management related fields.

The Board of Directors of the School decided to give the School a lift to be able to award National Certificates in 1999. The National Board for Technical Education visited the Institution in February 2001. As a result of the visit, approval was given to Ronik Polytechnic in December 2003 to commence operations as a private Institution starting with three departments viz Accountancy, Business Administration & Management and Computer Science including General Studies Department at the National Diploma level and General Studies as a service department. These programmes were fully accredited by the National Board For Technical Education with effect from 1st October 2005. The Board visited the Institution again from 13th to 16th June, 2008 for the purpose of resource inspection with a view to commencing the National Diploma programme in Electrical /Electronic Engineering.

The visitation resulted in the approval to commence the programme from 1st October 2008. The Polytechnic, when fully grown will function in the five Schools of Business Studies, Technology, Applied Science, Environment Studies, and Applied Arts.

NATIONAL DIPLOMA

Admission Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB “O” level result or equivalent with at least five relevant credits, which must include English Language and Mathematics, and any three others from Economics, Commerce, Geography, Principles of Accounts, Government, Business Methods, Typewriting, Shorthand, English Literature, History and Religious Knowledge, at not more than two sittings.

NATIONAL DIPLOMA

  • School of Science and Technology/School of Engineering

General Admission Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB “O” level with at least five relevant credits at not more than two sittings. Five credits must include English Language and Mathematics and three other subjects relevant to their proposed field of study.

Computer Science

  • Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry and any other three of the following: Statistics, English Language, Geography, Further Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Government, History, Biology, Agricultural Science, Food and Nutrition.
  • A pass in English Language is acceptable.

Statistics

  • Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry, and any other three of the following: Statistics, English Language, Geography, Further Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Government, History, Biology, Agricultural Science, Food and Nutrition.
  • A pass in English Language is acceptable.

Electrical / Electronics Engineering

  • 5 “O” Level papers with a pass in English Language and four credits passes in Mathematics, Physics, one science subject chosen from: 1. Chemistry, 2. Biology/Agricultural Science and one other subject.

Admission for direct full-time ND programmes is through JAMB. Candidates are advised to choose Ronik Polytechnic (where there is no cultism and strike) as their first choice of Institution.
