About Bowen

Since its founding in 2001, Bowen has been dedicated to providing high quality, morally sound, and socially relevant education in the most cost-effective manner to all its students.

Bowen University is a Christian Institution with total commitment to the age-long tradition held by the Baptist. The Core Values of the University shall be integrity, academic excellence, professionalism, character, Godliness, and leadership. The University is conceived as a center of learning and research of distinction, combining academic excellence with a love of humanity, borne of a God-fearing attitude, in accordance with the Baptist tradition of ethical behavior, social responsibility, and democratic ethos.

Bowen University operates a Modified Collegiate System with Seven (7) fully operational colleges viz College of Postgraduate Studies, College of Computing and Communication Studies, College of Health Sciences, College of Liberal Studies, College of Law, College of Agriculture, Engineering and Sciences and College of Social and Management Sciences. The University has a staff strength of Eight Hundred and Twenty-Six (826) and a student population of Four Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty-One (4,751) as of April 2023. Her products spread across all regions of the world doing excellently well in their chosen areas of calling.
It is worth mentioning that the University houses the world’s first and only deployed Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (Super DARN) around the equator. The system is named Virginia Tech-Nigerian Bowen Equatorial Aeronomy Radar (VT-NigerBEAR).

The radar network is the 36th of such in existence around the world; it is a network of high-frequency radars that investigates the earth’s upper atmosphere, providing insight into variations in atmospheric conditions and weather hazards.

Having enjoyed great and productive leadership since its inception, the University’s current Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jonathan Oyebamiji BABALOLA, is ably supported by his management team, Provosts of Colleges, Directors, and Heads of Units.
